I was amused by Three 6 Mafia's win of the Best Song Oscar - and I love the song - but I still think that the wonderful Dolly Parton's wonderful, lyrically layered Travelin' Thru should have won.

Speaking of lyrically layered, the Scissor Sisters' I Can't Decide is the best vaudeville-tinged disco song about a psychopath deciding what to do about his sociopathic soon-to-be-VERY-ex-boyfriend, ever. It's one of those that's all of 2 and a half minutes long, and when it ends, you're still ready to sing along with three more verses. And from the same CD, Don't Feel Like Dancing, is such pitch-perfect disco that it reminds me of my seventies childhood.

As I had it explained to me, it's like an answer song to the Bee Gees' "You Should Be Dancing." It's disco, real disco, just like we had as kids! Watch the video and be amazed by all the genuinely seventies pop idioms & Jake Shears' footwork (especially at the 3:37 mark).
