I've taken countless pictures of this, digital, Holga, etc. (they're all over at my Flickr account) but until this day, I'd never seen it lit.

Music - a little more with the Halloween

  • Voltaire - When You're Evil
Sigh. Those minions of Satan are just downright rude sometimes.

  • Nick Cave & Lydia Lunch - Some Velvet Morning
Honestly, I don't know what the hell this song's about, but even the original has always sounded creepy and off (and the original was Lee Hazlewood & Nancy Sinatra!) so I figure it's at home here.

  • Nerf Herder - Buffy the Vampire Slayer Theme
Never gets old. I'm too old and out of shape to kick anything but the occasional habit, but I still feel like going out and kicking ass when I hear this.

  • Godsmack - Voodoo
    Represent for Halloween, Santeria.

  • The Ramones - Pet Sematary
Love Theme from the movie of the same name, of course.

Music - More of the Halloween

I've got a ton more to post too, so just hang in there.

    Frank Sinatra - Witchcraft
A little of the sexy, slinky, romantic Halloween variety for you. It's not all about toilet-papering your neighbor's tree or trick-or-treating, you know. Sometimes it's about private (very private) parties.
Tom Waits - God's Away On Business
And then sometimes it's about -- how'd I put it a few months ago? -- "the musical equivalent of Yeats' poem The Second Coming. Tom, in this song, is himself the rough beast, slouching toward Bethlehem."
    Stevie Wonder - Superstition
This is kind of a Halloween standard by now, isn't it? I have some more of those upcoming, too.
Darling Violetta - the Angel: The Series theme
It's not just spooky, it's also quite pretty.

Music - Thomas Newman, Six Feet Under Theme

So it's not "Halloween" music. It's music that immediately (if you watched the show, of course) conjures the symbols of death. Fading flowers, hands suddenly unclasping, formaldehyde moving through the tubes ... it's haunting music, certainly, whether you watched or not.

  • Disclaimer:

Music is posted for a short time, and while I use it in part to (hopefully, though not always) go along with the theme of the photo, I also post it in hopes someone will give it a try and fall in love with it as I have. Perhaps they will then seek out more by the artist and buy more cds. That's how it works with me, anyway. If you like it, pick it up at the store; support the artists you love.
