This looks unnervingly like the buildings they used in the Operation Cue nuclear tests.
Speaking of which, the 15-minute documentary about the tests is 1950's retro gold. ("I was especially interested the food test program. Canned and packaged foods are to be tested. As a mother and housewife, this appealed to me.")
You're right! That first link is really unsettling. The second one ... it took a long time before they got around to blowing anything up and there was a bunch of math up front, but the part you mention there made it all worthwhile. :D
abandoned is so hard to find round here these days. and blue skies come to that.
