So after yesterday's little cri de coeur I feel mostly fine (and thank you again, you three) but today's doctor appointment has left me a little shocked. It turns out that the annoying cough that won't go away is a symptom of a larger problem. A MUCH larger problem.
No, it's not a toomah.
I've been informed that I'll need to have sinus surgery. To the doctor, it's a quickie little outpatient thing he does twice a week, to me it's OMG SURGERY. FACE SURGERY. NEAR MY BRAIN AND MY EYES. I've never had surgery. I am kind of terrified in that low-level, don't-care-to-think-about-it-much way.
So here are a few relevant songs. For you all to listen to, because I'll be avoiding them, and everything else that might remind me of this issue for a few weeks.
Jelly Roll Morton - Doctor Jazz
The Jackson 5 - Doctor My Eyes (Nice little Jackson Browne cover)
Placebo - Meds
Bon Jovi - Bad Medicine

Music is posted for a short time, and while I use it in part to (hopefully, though not always) go along with the theme of the photo, I also post it in hopes someone will give it a try and fall in love with it as I have. Perhaps they will then seek out more by the artist and buy more cds. That's how it works with me, anyway.
If you like it, pick it up at the store; support the artists you love.

Well, at the risk of annoying you by replying as I do…Ya had me a bit concerned. I was thinking of much worse outcomes. Known a couple people that have done the sinus thing. In all honesty any “surgery” is far from fun, but once it is done…you’ll be the better. And in a continued effort to bring about a smile or distraction…how about these songs for a go?
The Before: “Hay Fever” by The Kinks or “Dr. Robert” by The Beatles
& After: “I Can See Clearly Now” by Johnny Nash or “Little By Little” by Robert Plant (for the “I can breathe again” refrain at the end)
Oh dear. But I know that you will be better -- you will be able to breathe and see and be fine, and thank God your doctor does them twice a week. (But believe me, we're the same person except for the whole blood thing -- I'd be reacting the EXACT SAME WAY.)
And I was trying to think of clever songs for you, but all I could come up with was "Every Breath You Take." Which is just plain creepy.
You'll be fine!!!!!
xoxoxo
PS I'm glad you're feeling better about the other stuff, too.
Todd, those are good choices!
Karen, thanks - I appreciate it. Even the "creepy" song. :)
I know somebody who had the surgery done and she said it was one of the best things she'd ever done and she'd have had it done much earlier, if only she'd known. This is still not really helping me calm down.
You'll be fine, I promise. Not that I've ever had to have surgery myself, or that I have sinus issues, but I just know you're going to pull through. :-)
Oh, I'll come through the surgery fine, I'm sure, but the discomfort of recovery is what I'm dreading most.
I'm supposed to have my bottom wisdom teeth cut out because they grew in horizontally rather than vertically. I keep putting it off because I'm scared to death of the aftermath of the surgery. Ugh.
Yeah, I've been putting off the wisdom teeth removal too.
Gosh, hope this week is going better for you? Also, good luck with the surgery.
Aw, thanks, Todd. I'm scheduling the surgery tomorrow. So far ... nope, this week's suckin' already.
