Music - Compare & Contrast #2, Sway

I'm too lazy to write anything halfway coherent, so I'll do another compare and contrast.

"Sway."

  • Dean Martin's 1954 original

  • What purports to be a Dean Martin/Julie London remix; I don't know where I got it.

  • Something called "Mucho Mambo" by "Shaft." Yeah, I don't know.

  • Michael Buble's 2003 version

  • Prepare a 3 page essay regarding which one is your favorite and why. Cite your sources, and you better believe I'm checking margin widths.

Buble's musicians are much better. The horns are more crisp, and the whole thing is just better performed.

On the other hand, Deano has the voice. If I was just listening to Buble, it's not a problem, but hearing one right after the other, Deano wins the vocals, hands down.

Finally, I still maintain that, on the first refrain of "other dancers may..." Deano says they can pee on the floor.

Deano is the victor, two to one.

The other two, by the way, were disqualified for being too annoying to get through the whole song.

Your essay wins. Not because it's the only one, but because of the "pee on the floor" thing.

    Disclaimer:

Music is posted for a short time, and while I use it in part to (hopefully, though not always) go along with the theme of the photo, I also post it in hopes someone will give it a try and fall in love with it as I have. Perhaps they will then seek out more by the artist and buy more cds. That's how it works with me, anyway. If you like it, pick it up at the store; support the artists you love.
